Softball

Our recreational league teams have 3 divisions. Ages noted are typical for the division and may vary with player skill.

4 Year Olds

4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM (Play Ball!!)
The 4 year old program is very instructional based and really just a lot of fun for boys and girls. The majority of all teaching (practice) and games will take place on Saturday mornings and will last for about 45 minutes. The season will begin in late April with a parade on Opening Day and continue until Late June. It's an 8 week schedule with a break on Memorial Day Weekend. The 1st couple of weeks are set up like a teaching clinic; very basic instruction for hitting and fielding is given to all the kids by all the coaches. In the remaining weeks the teams actually play games on our "4 year old diamond" it is the coolest thing. All kids will hit off a T and are sent off to scurry around the bases. The season ends with a Trophy presentation given by their head coach.

ROOKIE

ROOKIE (Age 5-6)
This is the first level of softball. The girls have the opportunity to learn to play in a fun atmosphere where the coaches teach the basics of hitting, running, and fielding. Coaches pitch to their own players or players hit from a T.

AAA Kid Pitch

"Kid Pitch" AAA (Ages 9 & Older)
This is our higher level of play where more emphasis is placed on the rules of the game and the players face live pitching. Coaches at this league will continue to teach the basics, but will introduce some of the tactics of the game to develop the player’s mind as well as skill.

JUNIOR

JUNIOR (Ages 13 & 14)
This is for our Complete Softball player. Games will be held against other Babe Ruth Softball Leagues, and travel is required.

AA Coach Pitch

AA Coach Pitch (Age 7-8)
This develops confidence in batting, so the fundamentals can be taught from the mound. Catchers can be developed earlier. This level will help to make the transition for girls to higher level of competition much easier.

MAJOR

MAJOR (Ages 11&12)
This is our highest level of competition within our recreational league. Major Division Girls are taught how to play the game on a competitive level and sharpen the skills previously learned while learning new and more complete softball strategies. Some travel may be required.

The Backstop

The Backstop is the newsletter for our organization. It will be available Saturdays at the concession stand. We plan on highlighting little known rules, notices that everyone should be aware of, important dates, and our kids, especially when a special feat is achieved (such as a no hitter or home run).
